Eight new lawsuits have been filed against a Cleveland Fertility Clinic that accidentally destroyed thousands of eggs and embryos.
Families sued university hospitals in federal court Thursday, claiming negligence and breach of contract.
The loss happened after the facility’s storage tank failed last March.
One of the plaintiffs says the incident caused pain to her entire family.
“When all this happened, just about a year ago, it was the most devastating loss that we have ever felt. It was a loss that was felt throughout our whole family, not just by Matt and I.”
At least 950 families were impacted by the loss of eggs and embryos.
In addition to university hospitals, attorneys say the lawsuit is also going after the equipment’s distributor that was supposed to monitor the storage tank’s alarm systems.
